Steelheads vs Stingers

The Steelheads played the Shelton Stingers in Shelton on Sunday and came away with a 10-5 win. It was a hard fought game on a soggy field on a sunny day. Shelton’s try came in the first five minutes of the match, after that the Steelhead defense shut down the Shelton backline attack. Megan Johnson, scrumhalf, scored the first try from a five meter penalty late in the first half. The teams were tied at the half. Christa Cushon scored the other try in the second half on a breakaway run when she came up from fullback position to join the backline. The entire team played a very physical game, working hard to win the breakdowns and keep Shelton backs under pressure. A well deserved win for the girls. Next week the Steelheads will be at home against Chuckanutt – kick off at 1 p.m. at Rainer Vista. We hope to see you all out there to support these hard working young women!
