BBRFC Has Purchased a Field!
The Budd Bay Rugby Football Club's Board of Directors is very pleased to announce that on Tuesday, March 18th, 2014, Budd Bay Rugby purchased a plot of land which will be the site of our future pitch!  The property - at 7740 Prine Road SW, Tumwater Washington 98512 - will eventually house our club gear, a field, and a clubhouse or caretaker house.  The Board is very excited to take this tremendous step towards realizing our club's vision of owning our own field!  We now own the land, we just need to turn it in to a field!
Of course, that still leaves us with a lot of work ahead (some might argue the hardest part is still ahead!).  The land is undeveloped wilderness, the buildings old and in disrepair, and there is a significant amount of labor and money between the current plot and realizing our long term vision.  But this step in the right direction is very exciting.

For pictures of the property, click here.
Stay tuned for upcoming announcements in relation to the new property.  An Open House is tentatively scheduled for mid-April, committees are being formed to further plan our next steps, and work parties are being schedule for most of the weekends over the next two years!  We hope you all join us in our excitement about the opportunities that this purchase presents for the club, and are busy thinking of ways you can help us get to our final Vision.

Support BBRFC Players Next Weekend
As you can see below (in the Coming Up section) all teams will be playing at home (Rainier Vista) next Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30.  We're encouraging EVERYONE to come by at some point this weekend!  Talk about the new field, cheer on the youth, or the adults, or the men, or the women, or the referees!  Plan for the future, reminisce about the past, teach your kids about the sport!  Whatever your motivation, come join us at Rainier Vista between 10 and 5 on Saturday and 1-3 on Sunday. We look forward to having a great crowd packing the sidelines and showing all of Lacey what Budd Bay Rugby is about.

Event Date Location
Barbarians u15 @ Seattle Sat 03/22 Seattle
Score: 20 - 35 (L)
Player of the Match: Kamiko Napio
A fun shorten game of 9vs9, allowed the boys to stretch the legs out and run a bit. A few UN15s got to see some UN17 action
Barbarians u17 @ Seattle Sat 03/22 Seattle
Score: 32 - 19 (W)
Injuries and commitments, saw a shuffle in line up and several players filling in for UN19. Not losing stride with an undefeated record, the boys notched another solid victory. Barbarian big men did work as Isiah "Birdman" Bird was granted a spot at inside center and captured 2 tries. Eight man Uriah Tuuau bulled in for 2 tries. Lock forward Gabriel Yborra crashed in for his first try, as well as Tommy Hunkin. Tyler Neustradter slotted one conversion. This is an exciting run the fellas are on! Very proud of them.
Barbarians u19 @ Seattle Sat 03/22 Seattle
Score: 20 - 21 (L)
Player of the Match: Lui Sitama
Barbarian Nation was hosted by Seattle Vikings, which turned out to be a wonderful day of sunshine and great sportsmanship between both Clubs. Very evenly matched, our boys dug themselves a hole early, only to see them claw their way back onto the game and nearly pull out a win. The match was stopped with 5 minutes left to play due to a devastating injury to a Seattle player. Great care and thoughtfulness was exuded by our rugby community. Big shout out to Jay "Doc" Smiley for coming to the aid of the fallen rugger and providing excellent care. Your presence is greatly appreciated. Look forward to next weekend as Barbarians, Buffalos, and Bandits all have matches at Rainier Vista!! Go Bay
Steelheads vs Prairie Sun 03/23 Rainier Plateau
Score: 47 - 12 (W)
Player of the Match: Kayla Clark
The Steelheads played Prairie on Sunday. Prairie started with a short squad of 13 and played gamely throughout the match. Kayla Clark started the Steelheads' first half scoring drives with two tries. They bracketed the only Prairie try in the first half. Kayla Clark was followed by Skyler Milton's first try of the season. Ryann Anderson (3 tries) and Kayla Adderly (2 tries) finished out the first half scoring. Ryann Anderson also had one conversion on the day. The second half saw an alternate lineup for the Steelheads. Through lots of team defensive playing and some spectacular open field tackling by our fullback (Kenzie Ferguson) we held Prairie to one score in the second half. Player of the game was Kayla Clark for her superb overall efforts and for starting off the scoring at the beginning of the game. Final score was 42-12. A big thank you to our referee for the match, another Budd Bay coach, Ken Hynes. The game was played cleanly with no yellow or red cards. The Steelheads play Kent at home next Sunday at 1 pm.
