Event Date/Time Location Bandits @ Bend Sat 10/19/13 01:00 PM Bend Score: 69-15 (W) The Bandits played 80 minutes of Fast, Efficient, Effective Rugby (FEER) and took the match 69-15 on a beautiful, 70+ degree day in Bend. Bandits @ Eugene Sat 10/26/13 01:00 PM Eugene Score: 26-22 (W) The Bandits traveled to Oregon for the second weekend in a row for an impressive match against the Eugene Reign. Last weekend, the Bandits succeeded in terminating the Bend women to the tune of 69-13. It was a rough and tumble match, but the Bandits were clearly a force to be reckoned with on the pitch. This weekend was a harder fought match and was made even more difficult due to severe traffic delays en route to the pitch. With no time for warm-ups, the Bandits hit the field in true Budd Bay form and left Eugene with yet another win (26-22). The most impressive moments in the Eugene match were seen in the final 10 minutes of the game when the Bandits solidly held their defense on the Eugene try line and pummeled their opponents until the final whistle. Ellie Linn secured all but one of the conversions and rookie Quincy Ball scored one of the three tries. The Bandits have completed their Fall league season with two wins, three losses. They will travel to Tacoma for a friendly exhibition match on 11/2 and will be joining forces with Tacoma in the Annual Babbfest Tournament hosted by ORSU on 11/9. She is most interested in helping develop (and maintain) sponsor relationships and building the supporter membership. Madison is an excellent fit for the position, and we look forward to having her on board! Michelle and Clete Christiansen - Barbarian's Team Manager Michelle and Clete will be working together to help drive the Barbarians toward another wonderful season (and State Championship?). They will be relying heavily on other Barbarian parents to get the work done, so give them a hand when they ask for help! Barbarian/Steelhead Pre-Season Gathering A "Pre-season Gathering” for all returning and prospective Barbarian and Steelhead players is scheduled for this Saturday, October 26 at 10:30 a.m. Join us at Rainier Vista Park if you are interested in playing for either of these teams starting in January. Plan to: Visit with your mates, play a little touch (bring your cleats/boots), get news for the upcoming season, shop (gear sales will be on-site for your supporter and kit needs), and watch the men’s game that starts at 1pm. Event Date/Time Location Bandits vs. Tacoma Sat 10/12/13 12:00 PM Rainier Vista Park, Lacey, WA Score: 22-29 (L) It was a cold and cloudy day but it was perfect weather for rugby. The Bandits played a solid match against the Tacoma Sirens. Due to various reasons, the Bandits only had 13 players on the field the first half and 12 the second half. Despite playing short, they fought hard against the Sirens and were dominating the field for a good portion of the match. The home team crowd was roaring as the Bandits scored four times. Each try was hard fought and a team effort. Ellie Linn kicked a beautiful conversion topping out the Bandits' score at 22 points. The Sirens won due to a couple of breakaway opportunities, but not due to a lack of effort by the Bandits. The Bandits lost their scrum half, Machal Salazar, to an injury during the first half. The Bandits also lost their captain, Malory Salazar, briefly to a yellow card, but they welcomed her back after serving her time in the sin bin. Overall it was an intense match and both sides worked really hard for the full 80 minutes. Exceptional efforts were seen by Kelsey Stockert (full back), Amber Sadoski (fill-in scrum half) and new bandit Zoe Landis (at lock). The Bandits head to Bend on 1019/13 for their next league match.
