Fundraiser Wrap Up

Hope everyone's having a great New Year's Day! As you may recall hearing, last week Budd Bay Rugby held its 2nd Annual Vision Fundraiser holiday party. The primary goal of our club's Vision is to own our own Rugby Field! This annual fundraiser (plus other fundraisers throughout the year) is focused on raising money to support this great club goal.

One year ago, this dream seemed unattainable. Then, at last year's holiday party, the event raised $2,500, along with a $180,000 donation from the estate of a great friend to rugby, Frank Parker. Since then, the Vision Committee has scoured the Olympia, Lacey and Tumwater area in search of a new home for the club. And the great news is that the committee is preparing to take the next step! A property has been found which meets many of the club's criteria, so the board has authorized the committee to move forward with a feasibility study to determine if this particular lot is right for the club. Regardless of the results, its great to be able to take this next step! Which brings us back to the holiday party - and the support the club members continue to provide to this dream.

There were hopes that this year's event would match the success of last year's - at least $2,500 in donations. As it turns out, we vastly under estimated the incredible generosity of our members! Not only did we exceed last year's total, we more than doubled it, with a final total of over $5,000!

This is a great way to start out the new year, and puts us 1/4 of the way towards our annual goal of $20,000. If you missed the party, but still want to contribute to this cause, please visit buddbayrugby.com/vision to learn more.

Please have a safe and enjoyable New Year's, and start getting excited about the upcoming Rugby season!
